During business hours, you will speak with a CASARC intake nurse.  After business hours, a CASARC nurse will return your call as soon as possible.  The nurse will help you determine if you should come to San Francisco General Hospital immediately for a forensic medical examination or if an appointment should be scheduled for a later date.  The nurse will coordinate services with Child Protective Services (CPS) and the Police Department, as appropriate.  The nurse can also provide crisis intervention for sexual assault and traumatic events or make appropriate referrals.  If you are uncertain about whether or not abuse has occurred, the CASARC nurse can help you sort through your concerns.

For those over 18 who have been sexually assaulted, call 911.  For non-emergency situations or advice involving adults call (415) 437-3000 24 hours/7 days a week to reach the Trauma Recovery Center / Rape Treatment Center.

Cost: There is no charge for crisis intervention and referral, either by phone or in person. There is no charge for the emergency medical exam following sexual assault.
